A fantastic morning of football at Millthorpe School, as the York City Foundation welcomed the Wilberfoss Matchday Mavericks.
We were facing off against some strong teams from York and North Yorkshire, in our first test of 7-a-side as a team.
We kept a 2-3-1 formation for all the games, and the lads seems to take to it really well, with everyone having a go in multiple positions.
You have never seen so many draws in kids football (5 draws, 1 loss), as the boys more than held their own against tough opposition. Most importantly, everyone had a great time at what was a brilliantly organised event.
We have a lot to work on over the summer, but we are confident that we can arrange some good friendlies to get used to the bigger format.
