Meet the Committee

Lindsey Romeniuk

I grew up in York before moving to Sheffield to study Events Management at University.  After completing my degree, I moved back to York and have lived in Wilberfoss since 2009.  I love the village because it is such a friendly and supportive local community.  My husband, Brett and I have four boys who keep us very busy, and all of them have previously played or currently play for Wilberfoss Mavericks.  Brett has been involved with the club for many years as club Secretary and coach.  As junior football is such a big part of our lives I wanted to get involved in the club and give something back to the community.  In my free time I enjoy walking and cycling

Brett Romeniuk

Club Secretary

I have lived in Wilberfoss practically my whole life and have been interested in football nearly as long,  having started playing locally when I was 8. At 16, I went on to play for Wilberfoss Seniors for 13 seasons. I love the village and the way of life it has provided me over the years and when my eldest son wanted to start playing football in 2012, I saw being part of the Junior Football Club as my way of giving something back to the community. I started coaching in 2013, joined the committee later that year and jointly formed the ‘Mini Mavericks’ in 2014. I became Club Secretary in 2015 and started helping Dudley coach the current U11’s in 2017 when my eldest sons’ team sadly folded. The junior football club is such a big part of our family life with my wife Lindsey now as Chairperson and all four of our children involved in the club.

I am qualified accountant (ACCA, BSc) and a qualified Business analyst (BCS) working in various sectors for over 20 years.  I am also a mum of two sport mad boys and wife of football and cricket obsessed Dudley.  When time permits, I like to enjoy yoga, cycling and Hiit workouts and also try to relax!

Sarah Miller

Club Welfare Officer

I have been on the Wilberfoss Mavericks JFC committee now for just over 18 months.  I joined because my son started playing at the age of 4 for the ‘Mini’s’ and I wanted to become more involved within the club.  He is now playing in the under 10s and loves it as much, if not more, than he did back then.

Paul Kitching

Assistant Welfare Officer

I am currently serving in the Armed Forces and settled in Wilberfoss 3 years ago.  I’m a local lad and decided it best that my family and I settled as I come towards the end of my career.  I’m married to Kim and have three children, Ellie, Aimee and Alfie.  Alfie is an active lad and needed a sport to burn off his energy so I signed him up to WMJFC.  Not one for standing around myself, I was always finding ways to help out the other fantastic volunteers on training sessions and match days.  My main role is Welfare Assistant but I have also been recently appointed as the COVID-19 Officer for the club.  I also help out coaching some of the goal keepers and ‘reffing’ on match days.

Ged McTernan

Managers/ Coaches Representative

I began coaching at Wilberfoss Mavericks five years ago when my son wanted to give it a try.  I started with a large group of ‘Mini’s’ who started their footballing journey at the age of 4.  I have followed this group of footballers up to their current age group of under 10s.  I now have an FA Level 2 qualification which has helped me to learn a lot about the beautiful game.  I use the knowledge I have gained to plan training sessions which I look forward to every week.  I got into football myself watching Liverpool on television and been hooked ever since.  My hope is to be able to give the children at Wilberfoss Mavericks the best platform to learn and enjoy their football journey.

Sponsorship/ Fundraising

I have worked in student accommodation for the past 20 years, since finishing University in London.  I now manage a site in York and another in Durham.  My two sons absolutely love being part of the Wilberfoss Mavericks.  Although I know very little about football, I love being part of the committee and helping where I can.  In my spare time I enjoy bootcamp, running and socialising as much as possible.
